Matt Hollingshead — technical SEO consultant.
I work with product and engineering teams on the technical SEO problems that don't show up in tool dashboards but show up in your traffic.
What I do
Technical SEO audits
A two-to-three week deep dive into crawling, rendering, indexation, and architecture. You get a prioritized list of fixes ranked by what's actually costing you traffic.
Site migrations
Replatforms, domain changes, and IA overhauls planned and shipped without leaking organic traffic.
JavaScript SEO
Rendering, hydration, and indexation issues on React, Vue, Next.js, and other JS-heavy stacks. Including the ones Search Console doesn't surface.
Embedded advisory
I sit in on design and sprint reviews so SEO doesn't get bolted on at the end. Monthly retainer.
About me
Before consulting, I spent [X years] in-house at [Company A] and [Company B], owning technical SEO for sites in the [millions of pages]. I came up through engineering — [brief technical background, e.g. wrote production code for several years before moving into SEO] — which is why specs and code reviews are my native format, not slide decks.
My work tends to land in [marketplaces, large SaaS platforms, and publishers]. Recent engagements include [a migration that preserved X% of organic traffic for a Series C SaaS], [a JavaScript rendering fix that recovered Y indexed pages for a large marketplace], and [an architecture overhaul for a publisher with Z million URLs].

Common questions
- What size site do you work with?
- Work tends to be most valuable past 10k indexable pages, where small technical decisions start compounding. I'll tell you in our first call whether your project is a fit.
- Do you implement changes yourself, or work through our engineering team?
- I work through your engineering team. I write specs detailed enough to hand to a developer who isn't an SEO, and I'm available during implementation for questions and review. If you don't have engineering capacity, I can point you to people who do.
- How long until I see results?
- Crawling and indexation fixes show up in days or weeks. Ranking and traffic improvements depend on what's been holding the site back and how often Google crawls you. I'll give you an honest range during the audit, not a number meant to win the deal.
- Do you handle content or link building?
- No. I focus on the technical layer: crawling, rendering, indexation, and architecture. Happy to recommend people I trust for the rest.
- What does an engagement cost?
- Audits start at $5k. Migrations and retainers are scoped per project. I send a fixed quote after a first call.
